Our very first solo event went like clockwork. With a team of about 15, The Spero Foundation put on a wonderful event with the proceeds to benefit Arcadia Methodist Hospital’s The Year Beyond Program providing various programs including Breast Cancer Survivor Wellness, a free program designed to help women recover from the emotion and physical effects of treatment. Another program is Look Good…Feel Better a program which teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients in active treatment helping them combat the appearance related effects of cancer treatment. The second benefactor will be to the new “Ladies Lounge” at Santa Anita Park. The backside of the park is where many women track workers stay during the racing season. Jerry and Ann Moss, the owners of Zenyatta, have given money to create a lounge as a place of refuge for women to have space for their own activities (sewing, computers, etc) Talk to anyone who attended. The beer was great, the food was excellent, the atmosphere delightful and the venue beautiful. A silent and live auction took place to raise the money for these two programs. We wish to thank all the businesses and personal donators as well as those who bought up the items we offered.
